So glad you have your Thursday. Fellow ND unschooler here- my little still can’t manage any kind of groups of people but I hope one day to be able to do this and for now, we do what works. Lots of researching random animals on YouTube is one of them! Currently it’s tardigrades.
I absolutely understand this, it is a slow process. One day at a time. I’m so happy to hear you both also share the love of researching random animals! it can be a lot of fun and wonder. I will definitely add tardigrades to our list :)
I love this, Lauren, thank you. Thank you for writing so honestly about how some of the days look, the questions you ask about what have you even accomplished? I see myself and my family reflected in this story and that is such a relief. I am so happy for you that you found that forest school group that allows so much flexibility of parents nearby!!
Thanks so much for reading. I’m so happy to hear you see you and your family in there too - I think that’s the joy of writing about day to days because you can find you can find others taking similar paths. Yes, the forest school is very open and supportive of differences. Hopefully this can be the same for other groups and schools one day to accommodate differences and needs.
I love your list of home educating types of days, it's very familiar (and reassuring) having just begun this with my autistic kid and wondering what on earth we are doing!?
I’m so happy you have found some similarities in there - on what can sometimes be a crazy journey of wondering if this is enough/and I getting this right? I find as long as my child is in her contented state then that is we need to measure success.
